Eye See You

A lot of people these days put up with dark circles under their eyes or puffy eyes. Underlying factors that cause this condition include inherited traits, cigarette smoking, inadequate hours of sleep (guilty!), improper diet, excessive alcohol drinking, pollution and allergies.

Having to live day to day with circles under the eyes can be exasperating and uncomfortable for many. Because the first thing other people notice is your face, they will surely see those puffy eyes first and that does not make a good first impression. You appear very tired, old and haggard-looking.

There are many remedies out there to overcome this issue, from cosmetic surgery to specific eye cream/lotion, as well as natural remedies. Let’s take a look at this last one since it is safer and healthier with no side effect. There are many natural remedies but I’d like to put the highlight on CUCUMBER since I am a big fan of this remedy and cost extra nothing! You can easily buy this at your local grocery store or if you have enough space: plant them yourself.

Cucumber slices works well. They are mostly water, but they have a natural anti-inflammatory soothing effect too. Just make sure to keep them chill before you put them on your eyes.

Cucumber juice serves as an effective toner and astringent for the skin. Spread this liquid around the eyes for about ten to fifteen minutes. Wash the area with tepid water. This always helps in lessening the strain that is apparent on the eyes. Try to get organic cucumber for juicing, but if you cannot buy organic cucumber, just buy a normal one and make sure you peel the skin before juicing it.

For a quick fix: you can also try to stick a set of spoons in the fridge, and hold the smooth part under your eyes. Even better, use them to massage your eye cream. And make sure you also store your eye cream in the fridge.

Above all else, make sure you get enough sleep and drink plenty of water (not colored and flavored), of course!
